Reservoir Mounting for ALL E30 PS KITS:

Use the supplied Reservoir and Mounting Bracket Shim in the OEM Reservoir Mounting Bracket. This mounting bracket is found either on the engine mount bracket or the strut tower depending on the application.

You will insert the Chase Bays Reservoir with the Mounting Bracket Shim placed around the middle of the Reservoir. The gap of the Mounting Shim is for the threaded mounting hole portion of the Reservoir. Those threaded holes will not be used for mounting on any E30 PS Kits.

BMW E30 Power Steering Leak Fix for E36 M3 S52 swap

If you are only installing a High Pressure Line for any of these applications, please refer to STEP 2 of ALL engine specific instructions.

BMW E30 with M20 (CB-E30-M20PSK/1416)

1. The first line in the kit will be the Pump Feed line. This line will be the largest in diameter and should be about 14" long. You will connect the 45Ëš fitting to the larger of the two fittings on the bottom of the reservoir and the other end of the line will be connected to the pump using the supplied 16mm Banjo adapter, Banjo Bolt, and Crush Washers.

2. Next will be the High Pressure line. This line will be shiny compared to the rest and will have the Chase Bays logo on it. You will connect the end with the 90˚ fitting on it to the pump using the supplied 14mm Crush Washer adapter fitting. The straight end with the banjo adapter will be connected to the High Pressure Port on the rack using the supplied 14mm Banjo Bolt and Crush Washers. This hose routes behind the steering rack and along the frame to the PS pump outlet.

3. The last line will be the rack to reservoir return line. This line should be about 19" long with a 45˚ fitting and straight fitting. You will connect the 45 end to the low pressure port on the rack using the supplied 16mm Banjo adapter fitting, Banjo Bolt, and Crush Washers. The other end will then be connected to the smaller fitting on the bottom of the Power Steering Reservoir. This hose routes from the low pressure port, behind the steering rack, and forward towards the Reservoir.

4. Once you have everything plumbed you will need to bleed the system. This is accomplished by jacking up the front of the vehicle so that the front wheels are not making contact with the ground. Fill the Reservoir halfway full with the fluid of your choice and go ahead and start the vehicle. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock for 5-10 minutes or until there are no bubbles visible in the reservoir. Make sure to keep an eye on the fluid level and top it off as needed during the bleeding process, keeping the Reservoir half full.

The last step is to put the car back on the ground and take it for a drive long enough to get the power steering fluid up to operating temperature. Then park the vehicle and allow it to cool back to ambient temperature. This will bleed off any residual air that may be in the system.

BMW E30 with M20 with Power Steering Cooler (CB-E30-M20PSK-PSC/1416)

1. The first line in the kit will be the Pump Feed line. This line will be the largest in diameter and should be about 14" long. You will connect the 45Ëš fitting to the larger of the two fittings on the bottom of the reservoir and the other end of the line will connect to the power steering pump using the supplied 16mm Banjo adapter, Banjo Bolt, and Crush Washers.

2. Next will be the High Pressure line. This line will be shiny compared to the rest and will have the Chase Bays logo on it. You will connect the end with the 90Ëš fitting on it to the pump using the supplied 14mm Crush Washer adapter fitting. The straight end with the banjo adapter will be connected to the High Pressure Port on the rack using the supplied 14mm Banjo Bolt and Crush Washers.

3. Now you will want to mount the Power Steering Cooler using the supplied Power Steering Cooler Bracket, countersunk M8 hardware, and rubber insulated Brass Rivet Nuts. It will be mounted under the top of the core support with the Brass Rivet Nuts, and the Cooler to the Bracket with the M8 hardware.

4. The next line will be the rack to cooler line. That line should be about 48" long and have a 180˚ and 45˚ fitting at either end. You will connect the 45˚ end to the low pressure port on the steering rack using the supplied 16mm Banjo Adapter Fitting, Banjo Bolt, and Crush Washers. The 180˚ end of the line will be connected to the passenger side of the cooler.

5. The last line will be the cooler to reservoir line. That line should be about 34" long and have a 45˚ fitting on one end and a 90˚ fitting on the other end. You will connect the 45˚ end to the driver side of the cooler and the 90˚ end to the smaller fitting on the bottom of the Power Steering Reservoir.

BMW E30 with 1JZ-GTE or 2JZ-GTE (CB-E30-2JZPSK/1416)

Before installing any portion of the kit, we will start by removing the factory Pump Feed Adapter from the OE Power Steering Pump. Remove bolt holding on the barb adapter. Once removed, apply a small amount of lubrication in the inlet hole of the pump.

1. The first line in the kit will be the Pump Feed line. This line will be the largest in diameter and should be about 14 inches long. You will connect the 90 degree end to the larger of the two fittings on the bottom of the reservoir. The other end will install to the supplied Pump Feed Adapter. The Pump Feed Adapter comes with a bracket and fitting - place the bracket onto the adapter in the slot of the fitting itself between the o-ring seal and the main body of the fitting with the part # of the bracket facing down. Install the Pump Feed Adapter into the inlet hole of the pump, then use the stock bolt to attach the bracket to the pump from the OE mounting location of the pre-existing barb.

2. Next will be the High Pressure line. This line will be shiny compared to the rest and will have the Chase Bays logo on it. You will connect the end with the 90˚ fitting on it to the pump using the supplied 16mm Flare seal adapter fitting. The straight end with the banjo adapter will be connected to the High Pressure Port on the rack using the supplied 14mm Banjo Bolt and Crush Washers.

3. The last line will be the rack to reservoir return line. This line should be about 19" long with a 45 degree fitting at either end. You will connect one end to the low pressure port on the rack using the supplied 16mm Banjo adapter fitting, Banjo Bolt, and Crush Washers.
